GIS operator
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for importing and manipulating data using GIS software
- Enter and update map data through digitizing or by direct input of coordinate information using the principles of cartography
- Digitize data and/or utilize GIS/GPS processes to develop spatial data
- Gather, analyze and integrate spatial data into the database system
- Create maps and graphs, using GIS software and related equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
REPORTS TO
- GIS supervisor
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
- A two or four year technical degree preferred, however knowledge and experience with CAD or GIS systems would suffice as an educational background.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent computer skills, proficiency with MS Office Application programs
- Has experience and/or has ability to quickly acquire skills in data development, update, manipulation, and map-making using GIS tools
- Excellent oral & written communication skills, problem solving & teamwork
- Strong organizational skills/analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once and multi-task
- Ability to read and interpret documents and maps
- Must be self-motivated, highly productive, and possess proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for an office environment, office hours Monday – Friday and Saturday mornings, however, from time to time, it may be necessary to work on night shifts and weekends.
