Case Study: Bancnet

BANCNET uses Perspective GIS to manage their organization’s location information, in particular ATM, POS and card system locations.  By providing layers of GPS correct digital maps of the Philippines that include Regions, Provinces, Municipalities, Barangays, Streets and building location combined with our data packs of Top 7,000 industries, BANCNET is better able to manage the positioning of their ATMs, POS and Card systems.

BANCNET used Perspective Plus to plot the location of all existing ATMs and to add new ATMs as required.  Using Perspective Pro, Bancnet has an analytical tool that allows their analysts to compare the performance of ATMs by area, region, time, day etc.  The reports produced by Perspective enables the marketing staff to assess potential areas for additional ATM locations by viewing competitor’s locations as well as banks and other establishments’ locations.

Thematic mapping tools.  Perspective Pro has thematic mapping tools that combine existing corporate data, such as daily transactions and business activities, with the location of the branches to provide an enhanced view of how the business is performing across the country.  Spot trends and relative density while providing drill-down reports for a more detailed analysis.

GIS Base Maps

The project requires base maps for use by the mapping server, the maps should be in WGS 84 mapping standard.  WGS 84 is the preferred projection because modern GPS equipment uses it, which means that data coming from standard hand held GPS equipment can be directly imported into the system.

Perspective Plus developed under Map Info was designed for industrial use.  It is a professional GIS mapping tool that provides features like plotting, (plotting in any establishment with an address) territorial management, (allows users to create territories based on industry sector, classification or based on performance) buffering, (create buffers around ATMs and banks and find out what is within 1 or 2 km from its location).

In simple terms, BANCNET is able to track performance of their existing ATMs, POS and card systems nationwide! And see it visually on a map.  Perspective may also be used to evaluate other areas of opportunity for new ATM locations by analyzing traffic patterns in a given area. This functionality is further enhanced with the standard GIS data sets provided with Perspective GIS, data sets include the top 7,000 corporations including all the top Philippines brand names such as Jollibee, Mercury Drug, BPI, Petron, McDonalds, along with hospitals, government & educational establishments.
